Apollo VCL lets you build

1. Local applications that access data on the same computer.
2. Peer-to-Peer applications where your data is located on a shared network drive
3. Client/Server applications where you can connect to the Apollo Database Server via TCP/IP and let the Apollo Server manage the data remotely.

Apollo VCL can be used to completely eliminate the BDE for FoxPro and CA-Clipper data management. Apollo can also coexist with the BDE in the same applications if needed.

• Apollo VCL replaces the BDE for DBF data access so the BDE no longer needs to be distributed with applications.
• Apollo VCL can coexist with the BDE allowing developers to connect to other databases as required.

The TApolloTable and TApolloQuery components are TDataset descendents, which mean they are 100% compatible with native Delphi and C++Builder's data-aware controls as well as popular third-party data-award controls. The Apollo VCL components seamlessly connect to the underlying high-performance SDE database engine allowing developers to build powerful stand-alone, and peer-to-peer database applications or even Apollo Database Server client applications.

In addition to allowing developers to build stand-alone and peer-to-peer database applications, Apollo VCL is also used to build client-side client/server database applications that connect to the Apollo Database Server. Best of all, the same code set can be used to for all three configurations.

Apollo VCL installs into Delphi and C++Builder seamlessly and Apollo is fully compatible with Borland's data-aware controls (i.e., TDataSource, TDBGrid, TDBEdit, etc.), just as is done with TTable. Even popular 3rd-party data-aware components, such as InfoPower and Orpheus can be used with Apollo VCL. Apollo VCL includes Delphi source code for TApolloTable, TApolloQuery, TApolloDatabase, and TApolloEnv components.
