(The above sample is an Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode encoding a 12 digit number)
IDAutomation's Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Advantage Package allows you to print
Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes from any computer system supporting TrueType, PostScript
or PCL fonts including Windows, DOS and UNIX. The Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Advantage
Package is much more than just a few fonts. With this package you receive 12 different
font versions in 6 different font formats. You are also provided with font tools,
macros and source code to help you integrate the fonts into your application.
Implementing solutions with our fonts provides a high level of scalability with
operating system, application and printer independence.
Interleaved 2 of 5 Symbology Overview
- The implementation of Interleaved 2 of 5 as a bar code font can be difficult
for non-programmers because the barcode symbols are interleaved and cannot be
easily printed from the keyboard. If you are not required to use Interleaved 2
of 5 barcodes and you need an easy to use numeric barcode, consider our
Non-Interleaved Code 2 of 5
fonts, or our Codabar fonts
which can both be printed directly from the PC keyboard. If your application is
Microsoft Access, Excel,
Word, Visual Basic, C++
or an application that supports ActiveX
in Windows, we also sell easy to use "drag and drop" ActiveX Controls that support
Interleaved 2 of 5 as well as other barcode types.
- Interleaved 2 of 5 is a numeric only barcode used for encoding pairs of numbers in a
high density barcode format. Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes always contain an even number
of digits because a single Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode character represents two numbers
to achieve the high density. If a number containing an odd number of digits has to be
encoded, a leading zero must be added to produce an even number of digits in the Interleaved
2 of 5 bar code.
- The Interleaved 2 of 5 symbology is also referred to as USS ITF 2/5, ITF and I-2/5.
- The symbology of the Interleaved 2 of 5 character set consists of bar code symbols
representing characters 00 to 99, the space character and start / stop characters. The
complete printed Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode consists of a leading quiet zone, a start
pattern, Interleaved 2 of 5 symbols representing data, a stop pattern and a trailing quiet
zone. According to ANSI specifications, the quiet zones must be 10 times the width of the
short bar in the barcode.
- Interleaved 2 of 5 was designed for character self-checking, eliminating the requirement
for checksum characters. However, checksum characters maximize data integrity and are required
by some specifications.
- Interleaved 2 of 5 is commonly used for ITF-14, EAN-14, SSC-14, DUN14 and USPS
special services such as return receipts and delivery confirmation. These implementations usually
require a MOD 10 check digit. The Interleaved 2 of 5 MOD 10 can be calculated by our font
automation tools or manually. Manual calculation is obtained by adding up the odd numbers in
the code and multiplying them by 3 and then add up the even numbers. The check digit is
obtained by determining the number that when added to the sum will produce a multiple of 10.
For example, the check digit for 123456789 is 5 because (3*(1+3+5+7+9))+(2+4+6+8) = 95 and
95 + 5 =100. When calculating check digits, the data to encode should be an odd number of
digits because the check digit is interleaved with the last digit.
- The Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode may also be used as for German Post Identcode and Leitcode
symbols. dentcode and Leitcode require a checksum to be calculated. The calculation
is similar to USS Interleaved 2 of 5 MOD 10 except that even numbers are multiplied by 9 and
odd numbers by 4. For example, the check digit for 12345678901 would be "6" because
(4*(1+3+5+7+9+1))+(9*(2+4+6+8+0)=284 and 284 + 6 = 290.
Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Advantage Package Features
Details of the Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Advantage Package are as follows:
- Integration Tools Provided -- To help users integrate barcode fonts into their
applications, we provide several font automation tools that are free to use with this
package such as MS Office Macros for Word, Excel and Access, Visual Basic,
FoxPro, ANSI C and JAVA Source Code,
LotusScript, FileMaker Pro Plug-ins, Oracle Reports Libraries,
Crystal Reports UFLs and a check digit calculation application
with Visual Basic and FoxPro source code. The tools provided automatically format and
interleave the data to return text that will create a proper symbol with the barcode font.
- 12 Versions Provided -- The Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode fonts are scaleable and
should be printed at the correct font size to suit your application and scanning equipment.
Twelve (12) versions of the Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode fonts are provided to support
different width and height requirements. The last character in the Interleaved 2 of 5
barcode font name determines the height of the barcode with the shortest being AdvI25a and
the tallest being AdvI25f. Human readable versions are also supplied with the shortest
being I25HRa and the tallest being I25HRf. The Interleaved 2 of 5 font ending in the letter
"d" is a special version that will meet USPS special services requirements when printed at
20 points.
- Industry Standard Support -- Our Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode font is UNICODE
compliant and it was developed according to ANSI USS Interleaved 2 of 5 and European (CEN)
standards. Our Interleaved 2 of 5 font can be used for USPS mail special services, EAN-14
and SSC-14 barcode applications. Our "Interleaved2of5Mod10()" function in our MS Office
Macros and font automation tools can be used to encode the MOD 10 check digit required for
these specifications. EAN14 and SSC14 are primarily used for distribution applications and
serialized carton tracking.
- Multiple Formats Provided -- When you purchase a license for this font package,
you will receive all versions in a single ZIP file. The manual is supplied in a file named
"ReadMe.html" in the ZIP file. The following fonts are included:
- The TrueType fonts supplied are compatible with all versions of Microsoft Windows
including Windows 3.1, 95, 98, ME, NT and Windows 2000. The Macintosh TrueType fonts
are compatible with System 7.1 and above.
- PostScript Type 1 fonts are supplied in binary, ASCII and Macintosh versions.
- Also included in this package are PCL, BDF and FON fonts. PCL fonts are supplied
in 12, 16, 20 and 28 points. BDF and FON fonts are supplied in 12, 16, 20, 28 and 36
points.
- With the purchase of a Developer license you may convert our fonts to TrueDoc,
OpenType, AFP and other formats.
