Key Benefits
- Easily read and write to local COM ports. Supports RS-232/RS-422 ports.
- Allows full configuration of COM port including; baud rate, parity, stop bits, data bits and flow control.
- Read and write data by single characters, strings or byte arrays.
- Supports synchronous and asynchronous reads and writes.
- Allows immediate writes (places character ahead of pending writes).
- Multi threaded - allowing communications on multiple COM ports simultaneously.
- Event notification to detect when data is available to be read and when data has been written.
- Event notification for line state changes including CTS, DSR, RING and RLSD (CD).
- bility to change state of flow control signals (RTS, DTR, XON/XOFF, Break).
- Supports multiport serial cards and hubs.
ComControl Professional Version
- Supports X/Y/ZMODEM file transfers. Handles error recovery during file transfers and
allows file transfer cancellation.
- Data capture feature for logging or receiving ASCII files.
- Modem class supports many of the standard and enhanced AT commands. The Modem class
can be used to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls within a simple method.
Event Handling
ComControl raises events to notify the client application of significant events. The events
include:
- ReadCompleted - Raised when an asynchronous read has read 1 or more characters.
- RINGLineChanged - Raised when the RING line has changed state (used to notify of an incoming
call when communicating via modem).
- CTSLineChanged - Raised when the Clear To Send line has changed state.
- DSRLineChanged - Raised when the Data Set Read line has changed state.
- RLSDLineChanged - Raised when the Receive Line Signal Detect (aka Carrier Detect) line changed
state.
- CharWaiting - Raised when a character is available to be read.
- XferProgress - Raised periodically during a file transfer to notify application of progress
(Pro version).
Modem Interface
ComControl includes a modem interface to simplify communicating via a modem. The ModemObj
class includes methods to encapsulate many of the standard and enhanced AT Commands. These
methods can be used to dial out, receive incoming calls, set/get registers and adjust many
other modem properties. Some of the methods are:
- DialNumber - Dial the specified phone number
- AnswerIncoming - Answer an incoming call (can be used in conjunction with RINGLineChanged
event)
- AutoAnswerMode - Used to set the number of rings to auto-answer or disable auto-answer
- GetRegister - Get the value of a modem register
- SetRegister - Change the value of a register
- Hangup - Disconnect an active call
- CommandMode - Switch to command mode while a call is connected
- OnlineMode - Switch back to online data mode (from Command Mode) while connected
- SpeakerMode and SpeakerVolume - Used to set when the speaker is turned on and set the
volume
- Reset and ResetFactory - Reset the modem using either a stored profile or the factory
configuration
File Transferring
ComControl supports file transfers using standard protocols including XModem, XModem-CRC,
YModem and ASCII. File transfers can be accomplished using a single method. ComControl can
also be used to capture all data received on a comm. port and saving the data into a specified
file. Capturing data can be started and stopped on the fly.
ComControl Main
ComControl is electronically deliverd.
