Data_Entry

Add forms data entry screens to your applications

Data_Entry is one of a suite of Electronic Forms components. One method and four properties is all that is required to add a complete Electronic Forms Data Entry capability.

Data_Entry provides a choice of two different Data Entry screens for the Electronic Form as defined in the Definition (DFN) file. One Data Entry screen uses a TIF Image of the form and the data is entered directly into the image. The second Data Entry screen uses a grid format with a list of the fields that are located on the form. All data types are supported (Barcode, Pictures or graphics, Sequential Numbers, Combo Boxes, Date, Currency, Text, Integers, Numbers, and more).

Once the data has been entered, it can be saved, edited, or deleted using the Data Structure that was set up by the Data_Constructor component. In addition to Data Entry functions the end user will also have the ability to print or fax just the information or both the form and the information on the form. Single copies of the completed form can be printed as well as multiple copies based on the information provided in a recordset. All print location information is taken from the Access Database where it was placed by the Data_Constructor component.

Provide the end user with a complete data entry capability. This complete data entry application provides the end user with the ability to:

  • choose a data entry screen, either enter the data into an image of the Form, or a Grid.
  • save the information from each copy of the form to the Database, tables and fields create by the Data Constructor, or to any database with the required tables and fields.
  • retrieve information entered previously, edit and save the results
  • Print just the data, or both the form and data. Both single and multiple copies of the form are supported. This means that you can retrieve a set of records that represent different instances of the form and print all copies of the form with data all at one time.
  • Fax just the data or both the form and data. Both single and multiple copies of the form are supported. This means that you can retrieve a set of records that represent different instances of the form and fax all copies of the form with data all at one time

Data Items supported include: Barcode, Pictures or graphics, Sequential Numbers, Combo Boxes, Date, Currency, Text, Integers, Numbers, and more.

Component Properties, Methods, and Events are as follows:

Properties

  • DFN -- the path and filename of the DFN
  • UserDatabase -- the path and filename of the users database
  • ImageFile -- path and filename of Tiff user will use for data entry
  • ImageDataEntry -- Boolean used to tell what method to use for data entry
  • True -- Image Data Entry, False = Grid Data Entry
  • UserRecordSet -- a recordset to be used with the Data Entry Screen, in most cases this is a subset of the records in the Form table. Use the QueryBuilder and QueryBuilderODBC components to provide a GUI for the end user to generate the recordset

Methods

  • ShowDataEntry -- Displays the data entry screen and allows user to enter data, save the data just entered, delete existing copies of the information that has been previously entered, print just the information or print both the data and the form. An if a fax capability is also included
