The first of its kind, this program defines a new class of software, but with all of the usability, low cost, and flexibility of R&R Report Writer. R&R Data Warehouse combines licenses for R&R xBase Edition and R&R SQL Edition, but the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts.

With R&R Data Warehouse, you can manage, transform and report data across database types and applications programs!! For example, do you have some data in Oracle, other data in Sybase, and some data just stored in spreadsheets? That’s no problem for R&R Data Warehouse. All processing of the data takes place right on the desktop PC: data translation and standardization, stored procedures, table joins and, of course, the final reporting layout or data extraction format or chart or cross-tab.

Description

R&R Data Warehouse is designed to allow traditional data warehousing functions to take place on the end-user’s desktop computer, rather than in an IT controlled environment. These functions include:

Standardization of different database types to a single platform
Translation of data to common coding schemes
Consolidation of identical or similarly structured data tables
Normalization and de-normalization of data structures to address specific uses
Accumulation of data into time and group-related totals and dimensions
Creation of metadata elements and table joins for specific uses

Because these functions takes place on the desktop, any local data sources -- AND THE END-USERS’ OWN KNOWLEDGE -- can also be included in any reporting, analysis, data extraction or other uses for the data. This represents a significant advantage of traditional data warehousing approaches, and also takes far less time to implement, requires no special equipment, and costs much less.

If a traditional data warehouse is already in place, R&R Data Warehouse can reduce its cost to maintain or update. The data stored in the data warehouse is simply more raw material for use with R&R. In particular, the stored procedures necessary to perform translations, normalizations and accumulations within a traditional data warehouse can be defined without any coding in R&R Data Warehouse.

SQL Edition supports all databases accessible via ODBC (Open Database Connectivity). ODBC drivers are included for: Microsoft Access, dBASE, Excel, FoxPro, Paradox, SQL Server, Text databases. ODBC drivers for client/server databases such as Btrieve, DB2, Informix, Oracle, etc. please contact your database vendor.
