XML is a markup language, designed to describe data and to focus on what data is. So why put it away in a database where it is stored in some proprietary software format, impossible to understand and difficult to access? DOMSafeXML stores its data as XML, this is the most transparent and flexible persistence method, it reduces risk and ensures the availability of your data.

The main reason is that databases are not about storage of data, but about facilitating the retrieval of data. DOMSafeXML also addresses the problem of multi-user access to the same data, solving concurrency problems through the use of transaction mechanisms. Most databases sacrifice the openness and readability of XML files to store them in a relational or object-oriented database with APIs based on open-standard interfaces.

Keeping the open standards open

DOMSafeXML-Server doesn't map xml files to relational tables or to some object database. You have chosen XML , with open standards and human readable and your XML files will remain as such on disk. Being a main memory database, DOMSafeXML-Server caches your xml data while monitoring the serialized file for external changes. Multi-user access is possible through an ingenious transaction mechanism based on locking on node level. The built-in webserver allows for remote access, with security protection. Naturally, DOMSafeXML supports all major standard XML technologies, such as XPath, XMLDB and DOM level 2 interfaces. Language bindings for COM, C++, Java and C# are available.

DOMSafeXML has three license types: Enterprise, Standard or Test. All license types include an unlimited amount of users. The Enterprise license allows unlimited installations on a domain. The standard license is bound to a single computer. The Standard license and the Enterprise license do not limit the number of databases. The Test license allows only one database.
