Language CompatibilitiesMany national languages use characters found in the ASCII extended character set, the characters whose ASCII values are above 7F hex (127 decimal). From a file damage point of view, it is necessary to be able distinguish trash characters from legitimate language characters. In dSALVAGE we have provided switches that can be used singly or in combination and that allow dSALVAGE to accept certain extended characters as normal when they exist in Character fields and field names. The specific switches available in dSALVAGE are for the German, French, Spanish and Portuguese languages. For example, the -g switch (for German) will allow dSALVAGE to accept the umlaut characters, the sharp S and other German-unique characters as normal.
