
Composing and Sending Messages
The eMail developer's toolkit can create email messages formatted according
to the standards specified in RFC-2822 and send the messages to an SMTP
(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server. Features include:
- Specify the message sender.
- Multiple message authors.
- Multiple primary, carbon copy, and blind carbon copy recipients
(singles and groups).
- Custom message header fields.
- Textual message body, with any format (plain, HTML, etc.) and any
character set (US-ASCII, ISO-8859-2, etc.).
- File attachments: Base64- or Quoted-Printable-encoded.
- Add encapsulated messages.
- Compose messages by directly adding MIME entities (alternative or
non-alternative).
- Custom MIME entities header fields.
- Creation of RFC-2822 email message files.
- Send commands to an SMTP server.
- Authentication using the LOGIN mechanism (ESMTP servers)
- Compose and send messages using a built-in message-composition dialog
box.
Retrieving and Parsing Messages
The eMail developer's toolkit can retrieve email messages from POP3 (Post
Office Protocol 3) email program servers and parse messages in the RFC-2822
(RFC-822) format. Features include :
- Authentication using the USER/PASS mechanism.
- Retrieve the count of messages in the mail drop and their total
size.
- Retrieve the size and the server-determined unique-ID of a message
in the mail drop.
- Retrieve message headers only.
- Mark messages for deletion on the server.
- Decoding Base64 and Quoted-Printable encoded content.
- Examine the message textual body and file attachments.
- Examine encapsulated messages.
- Messages can be viewed using a message-viewing dialog box.
- Load and save messages to and from files.
- Examine the message MIME entities.
- Advanced functionality to examine the headers and bodies of messages
and MIME entities.
