SuperTCP Suite is a flexible, high-powered, multi-faceted connectivity solution
that enables any Windows 3.X, Win 95, Win 98, Win 2000 or Win NT machine to
communicate via the TCP/IP open-system protocol on internal networks and the
Internet.
SuperTCP Suite has all of the functionality provided by the other SuperTCP
Suite products (SuperX, SuperNFS, SuperTCP Internet, SuperTCP, SuperTCP/ NFS,
SuperTCP Kernel, SuperTerm, and CyberSearch) on the SuperTCP Suite CD, plus
additional functionality.
SuperTCP Suite's flexible and intelligent installation options let you
install ONLY the application you need for the correct Windows operating system
allowing you to easily maintain a small footprint on your client computers.
SuperTCP Suite is the only connectivity solution that allows administrators to
easily maintain an organization's current legacy information technology investments
while allowing them to take advantage of new Intranet/ Internet tools.
The two main components of the Suite are:
SuperX
SuperX Server allows users to run powerful UNIX based applications from a
Windows 3.X, Win 95, Win 98, Win 2000 or Win NT machine. Options in the SuperX
Server define colors, fonts, keyboard remapping, host login and configuration.
Icons can be created to save all of these settings. In addition, SuperX provides
aliases, substitutions and compilation of fonts. Startup options include rsh,
rexec, rlogin and XDMCP.
SuperNFS
SuperNFS gives users access to machines on the corporate network using the
Network File System (NFS) protocol. For example, a user could mount and access
a UNIX host's file systems and utilize the UNIX host's files using the NFS
protocol. SuperNFS runs on Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000,
Windows NT 3.51, and Windows NT 4.0. NFS can be automatically optimized to NFS
Version 2 or 3 utilizing either UDP or TCP.
The other components and utilities available with Suite are:
Super TCP Kernel
The SuperTCP Kernel is the TCP/IP stack in SuperTCP Suite that can be used with
Windows 3.1x. Microsoft provides a TCP/IP stack with Windows 95 and NT. Using
the SuperTCP Kernel, you can access the Internet with any application that
complies with the Windows Sockets version 1.1 standard. Two versions of the
SuperTCP Kernel are available. The VxD Kernel is optimized for use on a local
area network (LAN). The DLL Kernel is optimized for use in a dial-up configuration.
In addition, the SuperTCP Kernel provides many features that support network
administration such as the SNMP Agent and Trace Route.
CyberSearch
CyberSearch is a one-stop information retrieval and information management tool
for searching, organizing, and monitoring all information across the desktop, LAN,
Intranet, and Internet. CyberSearch users can index over 55 common office documents
including HTML and Microsoft ASP documents. CyberSearch also indexes the newsgroup
server in SuperTCP Suite so organizations can host virtual meetings and allow users
to find questions and answers that may exist in the newsgroup articles.
Internet Information Management
A host of utilities which help you make the maximum use of the Internet and the
Intranet. Includes applications such as e-mail, internet browser, FTP client/server,
various intranet servers such as DNS server, News server etc.
Network Administration Tools
Suite offers a variety of tools to help you administer your network connections in
an intuitive and informative method. Includes intelligent installation, wizards and
utilities to check and trace your packet delivery.
Host Access and Terminal Emulation
The base package of SuperTCP Suite includes Host Access and Terminal Emulation
applications which provide PC users running Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, Windows 98,
Windows 2000, Windows NT 3.51, or Windows NT 4.0 easy access to applications and
data residing on IBM and IBM-compatible mainframes, IBM AS/400 midrange computers,
and UNIX based computers. Frontier Technologies provides an optional add-on emulation
package called SuperTerm. SuperTerm includes support for tn3179g, tn3270E, and VT420.
Remote Configuration
Remote Configuration allows system administrators to configure, update, and modify
SuperTCP Suite connectivity applications on user's desktop's from their own computers.
No longer do administrators have to leave their desks to configure and update SuperTCP
Suite applications on local or remote employees' computers. They can now do all
administration from the comfort of their own desktop computer.
