Reduce memory consumption
JProbe Memory Debugger helps developers quickly pinpoint memory leaks in
Java code and reduce application memory usage. Java developers can visualize
complex data on memory usage and loitering objects with JProbe’s easy-to-use
views, navigation and line-by-line results.
Benefits JProbe Memory Debugger provides include:
- Eliminating expensive memory recycling with the Garbage Monitor
- Dramatically improving memory consumption and application performance
- Pinpointing the cause of loitering objects with the unique Reference Graph
- Zeroing in on critical code with powerful triggers
- Fine-tuning data collection with an advanced API
JProbe Memory Debugger 5.0 - Find Leaks Faster
We have added a wealth of new features to JProbe Memory Debugger 5.0, all with
an eye to reducing the amount of time you spend looking for memory leaks.
Read on to find out more.
Leak Doctor
Identifying the root causes of memory leaks is always difficult work. The new
Leak Doctor analysis tool identifies all direct and indirect objects that
reference the memory leak you are investigating. You can also model the resulting
object reference relationships should the object reference be released. The best
part is that additional coding or further analysis sessions are not required.

Streamlined Memory Analysis
JProbe Memory Debugger has always provided Java developers with accurate, in-depth
information on application memory use. Debug data collection has been greatly
simplified through the new Use Case analysis interface and features. Once filters
and checkpoints settings are established, simple Start Use Case and End Use Case
buttons allow you to poinpoint any memory performance problems.
Threshold Analysis and Notification
Memory performance investigators can now set a threshold on a class to automatically
notify them if the number of instances is excessive. Automatic notification saves the
team valuable time by eliminating the need to search through tables generated by a
heap dump.
New Garbage Collection Analysis Options
Users can now receive reports based both on numbers - the objects that are
garbage-collected the most often - as well as size - the objects that would free
up the most memory if collected. Both of these statistics are helpful in reducing
the frequency of garbage collection, as well as its impact on application performance.
Scheduled Snapshot Generation
You can now generate snapshot analysis files based not only on method entry and exit,
but also on elapsed time. Many development teams prefer to collect performance
information as part of unattended nightly build processes. By scheduling snapshots
at different points during the build, you can generate an analysis overnight and be
ready for investigation when you arrive in the morning.
JProbe Memory Debugger is also available as part of the JProbe Suite.
