Designed for everyday business use, Microsoft MapPoint allows Microsoft
Office users of any skill level, in any size organization, to easily visualize their
business information, communicate key data using maps and integrate maps
into the work they do in Office. MapPoint is a unique business-mapping
program that combines powerful mapping and analysis tools with the
simplicity of Microsoft Office, enabling people to see how location makes a
difference to their business.
Benefits
- Pinpoint exact customer or business sites on the map throughout the US
and Canada. Full address searching available over 6 million miles of road for
U.S. and Canada. MapPoint Europe with maps of 11 Western European
countries available separately.
- Create maps with your own data. Step-by-step instructions guide you on
how to apply your sales information, and demographic variables to a variety
of map types. Make your map look how you want by defining data range,
legend label and ramp color palette. New this year, associate more data to a
map by adding pie and column charts to maps.
- Get address-to-address driving directions. MapPoint will calculate
optimized routes based on imported addresses. New this year, turn simple
routes into an analysis tool by generating drive-time zones to/from a specified
location(s).
- Import customer, and contact information from Microsoft Excel, Access or
Outlook to create a map of their locations. New this year, create your own
pushpin icons and use them on your data maps. Or choose multiple symbols
that best represent a series of data.
- Create maps that group common areas and overlay key information to
these regions.
- Increased integration with other Office applications, including access points
that make basic mapping function easier to use. MapPoint also supports data
importation from Access, Excel, Outlook or any SQL Server
database.

Hard Disk
Hard-disk space requirements will vary
depending on configuration. 285 MB of
available hard-disk space is required for
the typical configuration of MapPoint
2002. 975 MB of available hard-disk
space is required for the full configuration
of MapPoint 2002. Customers without
Windows 2000 or later, Windows Me, or
Office 2000 SR1 or later will require an
extra 50 MB of hard-disk space for the
Office System Pack.

Some MapPoint 2002 features have

- Territories 128 MB of RAM is
recommended for optimal Territories
performance.
- MapPoint ActiveX Control The MapPoint
ActiveX Control requires Microsoft Visual
Basic 6.0.
- E-mail & Internet Microsoft Exchange,
Internet SMTP/POP3, IMAP4, or other
MAPI-compliant messaging software to
use Send To as attachment; Microsoft
Outlook 2000 or later required to use
Send To as picture. Some Internet
functionality may require Internet access
via a 14.4kbs or greater modem or a
high-speed connection, and payment of a
separate fee to a service provider; local
charges may apply.
- GPS GPS functionality requires a GPS
device that supports NMEA 2.0 or later.
Office Integration Integrating data into
Microsoft Office applications requires 97
or later versions of Microsoft Access,
Excel, FrontPage, Outlook, PowerPoint,
Publisher or Word. Integrating data from
Office applications requires 97 or later
versions of Microsoft Access, Excel and
Outlook; or SQL Server 6.5 or later. The
Add In for Microsoft Office requires
Microsoft Excel 2000.
