In this version of NetBackup Professional, support for Solaris is introduced with regards to where customers can deploy the server component. Customers now have a choice of Windows-based or Solaris-based deployment for the NetBackup Professional Server.

NetBackup Professional is integrated with Microsoft Explorer and provides an intuitive client interface for recovering individual files and directories. In addition to its scalability, NetBackupTM Professional integrates comprehensive disaster recovery features for Windows clients, recovering the complete hard drive image via bootable diskettes and CDs.

Designed from the ground up for ease of use, NetBackup Professional let users balance backup workload using a common console that supports multiple servers and easily move clients from one server to another, or copy profiles (groups of clients) between servers.
