3D Chart Types

ComponentOneChart 7.0 (formerly Olectra Chart) supports many different 3D chart types, including the following:

3D Scatter Plots

Scatter Plots enable your users to better visualize the relationships between data points. Scatter Plot graphs can be rotated, providing users with different perspectives on the data. You can also add drop-lines to show where the points originate for any specified axis, or for any specified data series.

3D Surface with 2D Projections

You can project your complex 3D charts to 2D surfaces -- you can even show them both, as the illustration at left of a water table shows.

Meshed and Shaded 3D Bar Chart

The image at left is an example of a 3D bar chart that uses both the IsMeshed and IsShaded properties. You can also rotate, scale, or zoom the chart by selecting the appropriate radio-button and then use the available scrollbars or use the mouse directly on the chart to do the selected action.

Meshed and Zoned 3D Bar Chart

The chart depicted at left uses the IsMeshed and IsZoned properties and is designed to illustrate some of the extensive user interaction capabilities built into ComponentOne Chart. End users can interactively change the value of data points in the chart and it automatically highlights the bar that the mouse is currently over.

Zoned and Shaded 3D Bar Chart

You can create impressive zoned and shaded 3D bar charts using the IsZoned and IsShaded properties, as depicted in the illustration at the left.

Meshed 3D Surface Chart

The chart shown at left uses the IsMeshed property, and is designed to show how to load and save chart descriptions and output chart images, such as loading and saving .OC3 chart description files, or sending the chart to a printer.

Meshed and Contoured 3D Surface Charts

The 3D surface chart at left illustrates how you can easily add bitmaps or Windows metafiles to different chart elements. It uses the IsContoured and IsMeshed properties.

Meshed, Shaded, and Zoned 3D Surface Chart

This image displays a combination of three properties: IsMeshed, IsShaded and IsZoned. It is designed to show a variety of mathematical functions that can be modeled in ComponentOne Chart.

Meshed, Shaded, Zoned, and Contoured 3D Surface chart

This chart captures all four properties—IsMeshed, IsShaded, IsZoned, and IsContoured—in one surface chart. It shows how to use the 3D Chart and 2D Chart controls together by interpolating the 3D surface displayed into a second 2D Chart.

Zoned 3D Surface Chart

This chart uses the IsZoned property and is designed to simulate the effect of light on an elevation surface, producing a "4D" chart where the fourth dimension is color data mapped onto elevation data.

Zoned and Contoured 3D Surface chart

This chart uses the IsContoured and IsZoned properties, and is designed to show how to reduce the amount of data in a chart by using cubic and linear spline interpolation. It also shows how to copy data from one chart to another.
