OTW supports C++, Java, Delphi, as well as SQL-DDL and CORBA-IDL!

otwbox.gif

OTW is an Object Oriented modeling tool supporting the entire software engineering process and the following operations:

  • Requirements Analysis
  • Modeling
  • Constructing
  • Deployment

OTW enables the modeling of your business processes up to the software which supports them. It can be used by software developers as well as by project managers and employees in various special departments.

Fields of application

  • Software Engineering
  • Business Modeling
  • Business Process Modeling
  • Documenting
  • Redesign/Rearchitecturing

Features

  • Modeling tool for the entire life-cycle of applications
  • Workbench and toolkit for all participants in the project including customer and developers
  • Enable modeling of all types of processes
  • Adheres to UML notation and concept of conduct and provides synergies

OTW ensures that your ideas and visions are communicated in a standardized way. OTW fully supports the modeling process according to the UML and the SEPP/OT software engineering concept.

OTW supports the diagrams of the UML:

  • Use Case Diagram (UCD)
  • Sequence Diagram (SD)
  • Activity Diagram (AD)
  • Class Diagram (CsD)
  • Component Diagram (CmD)
  • Deployment Diagram (DD)
  • Statechart Diagram (ScD)
  • and supplements the UML with:
  • Object Process Diagram (OPD)
  • Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD)

Performance Features of OTW

OTW offers constant support for:
  • Collecting and documenting the project requirements
  • Modeling according to the OMG standard, the Unified Modeling Language (UML)
Utilizing the created models for:
  • Model generation
  • Code generation (forward, reverse)
  • Documentation
Collecting and documenting of the requirements is promoted by:
  • The add-on of C.A.R.E. (Computer Aided Requirements Engineering, a tool for collecting, structuring and managing requirements of complex software systems)
  • The Use Case Diagrams of the UML

Textual descriptions that go with the Use Cases can be added either directly or by assigning corresponding text files to them. Model generation simplifies and extends the ways in which successful solutions can be reused.

Within business process modeling, OTW facilitates:
  • The description of business processes by means of UML Use Case Diagrams and OTW exclusive Object Process Diagrams
  • The description of the workflow by means of the UML Sequence Diagram
  • The description of business rules by means of the OTW exclusive Object Process Diagram

The Object Process Diagram is a supplement to the UML and was especially developed for the modeling of dynamic aspects and business process modeling.

The code generation makes it possible to implement the models created in the program. The source-code-parser allows existing software solutions to be transferred into models to be analyzed and further developed.

The project documentation is simplified through:
  • Automatic document generation as HTML or MS Word document
  • The generation of different types of documentation and applying them to individual needs
  • The consideration of self-made descriptions

OTW can be applied by software developers as well as by project managers and employees in various departments, particularly in the gathering of the requirements.

General and efficient features include:
  • The intuitive usability
  • Windows Look and Feel
  • The detailed Online Help
  • The user free design (color, size, fonts) of all elements of a model
  • The extended possibilities for the graphic representation of models
  • The reduction of the time necessary to read-in several Java files and Java packages or several C++ files and directories
  • The possibility to navigate comfortably and freely among the diagrams

The clarity of the models is enhanced for all persons involved with icons that can be assigned to every element of a model.

Additionally, the OTW Team Edition adds features to:
  • Check In/Check Out organizes the development in a team as well as distributed environment
  • Complete the functionality of the workbench. The files and directories that belong to repositories can be packed into an OTW archive to sent via email.
  • Cooperative work online in a network or offline development at remote locations

Private-Edition

The Private Edition is a single-user version of Object Technology Workbench (OTW). The Private Edition can be used to become familiar with object-oriented modeling on the basis of the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The OTW Private Edition is free of charge for academic purposes.

Team Edition

In the Team Edition, team development is supported through multi-user repository. The team is enabled to work cooperatively online in a network, or to develop distributedly offline at remote locations.
