Task Automation

Phantom frees system administrators from the work and worries associated with routine tasks by using an advanced scripting language that automates these tasks.

Task Scheduling
Not only can Phantom automate routine tasks, but it can also schedule these tasks to run anytime day or night. This means you can shutdown and backup a database, load and unload NLMs, or numerous other tasks, without being tied to the server console.

Phantom Command Language (PCL)
Phantom uses a simple script editor and an advanced scripting language, supporting over 50 commands, to create and modify scripts. Creating a script in Phantom using these tools is as simple as writing an MS-DOS batch file. Phantom also ships with a script wizard that automates the creation of several common scripts such as DS Repair, Export DS Log File, Oracle Database Shutdown, Btrieve Database Shutdown, Console Command, Load NLM, etc.

Additional Security
Phantom's multi-level security offers optional password protection for access to both server and console agents. Having Phantom dismount volumes when they are not needed can also enhance security of network data.

Harness the Power of Idle Workstations
Phantom can schedule and execute jobs requiring DOS platforms which not only saves time, but also effectively utilizes idle workstations. Such jobs may include:

• Consolidate a database
• Run client based applications
• Manipulate large database files
• Schedule jobs on the workstation

Reporting Tool
Phantom's reporting utility documents the date, time, and description of each job that is run. Reports may be directed to the printer, disk, or screen. A report filter allows greater flexibility in printing the reports, such as selecting jobs that ran during a specific time range.
