Collapse a Timeline Track for
Single-Track Editing
The Timeline in Adobe Premiere lets you work
the way you want to get your job done. You can add up to
99 audio and 99 video tracks to the Timeline. Then
assemble video on expanded tracks, or collapse those
tracks for a less cluttered, more comfortable work
environment. As you add tracks, name them for easy
identification. Then target a track from the Monitor
window and use keyboard shortcuts to insert clips on it.
To check a sequence in a rendered movie without
outputting the whole piece, designate certain tracks as
hidden -- they'll appear on the Timeline but not in your
rendered movie. Or reduce on-screen clutter by making
tracks shy, so they appear in the final rendered movie but
not on the Timeline. You can even lock tracks to protect
them against accidental changes. The Timeline also
features tools that let you quickly select a single clip,
multiple clips on a track, and multiple tracks of clips, or
perform rolling, rippling, and slip-and-slide edits.
