Pro-Analyzer

Analyze Your Computer Program and Automatically Generate Documentation in No Time!

Pro-Analyzer is a documentation CASE tool designed to analyze a computer program and automatically generate documentation about that program. By using the program's source code as the primary input, a variety of flow diagrams, comment headers, cross references, code surveys and other useful reports can be generated quickly and easily, with no source code changes required. Now documentation and logic diagrams can be generated and kept current by simply running Pro-Analyzer.

Pro-Analyzer can be used for documenting and diagramming new source code, but it can be especially helpful to aid in the reverse engineering, re-engineering or documenting of old code -- where original programmers have long since moved on, or where no documentation exists at all. These reports could be used to help track down code and variables related to a specific problem, for example, two digit date fields for the year 2000, Y2K problem.

Pro-Analyzer

Programmers and engineers will find the CallMap Report is especially useful in documenting a program's structure. CallMap is a logic diagram of the program which shows where all the procedures and functions are called, reveals how many "levels" deep the subprograms are and shows where recursion is used.

Source code can be enhanced by using the Pro-Analyzer tool. As the code is processed, any unusual conditions detected are noted on the Anomaly Report -- such as variables not used, variables not set, or functions that are never called. Comment headings for each subprogram can be generated, then after your inspection, can be inserted into a new copy of the source code itself.

Managers can quickly get an idea of a program's size, quality and complexity by using the Survey Report.

A variety of controls in the graphical user interface allow customizing the reports for specific needs. As a default, all switch settings have been preset to reasonable values.

If requested, the entire output generated by Pro-Analyzer can be automatically paginated and printed as a document -- complete with a title page, table of contents, headings and page numbers. The resulting documentation can be used by computer programmers, engineers or management to understand the source program.

An effort was made to avoid any built-in limitations in the Pro-Analyzer system. In general, there are NO fixed limits on the number of identifiers, number of subprograms, number of files or number of lines of source code that may be processed.

Benefits

  • Provides documentation for previously undocumented programs
  • Easily builds documentation that previously was difficult or impossible to generate
  • Saves time during software documentation
  • Helps new programmers understand a program more quickly
  • Reduces the cost of software documentation
  • Enhances program efficiency and structure
  • Standardizes program documentation
  • Finds code anomalies, dead code and unused variables.
  • Keeps documentation up to date

System Requirements:
Pro-Analyzer requires an IBM compatible PC with a Pentium/80486/80386 processor, Windows 95/98/NT, 4+ MB RAM and 30+ MB free disk space. All versions of Delphi are supported, including Delphi 4. Also, Borland Pascal and Turbo Pascal programs may be analyzed.

Pro-Analyzer is Y2K compliant, no two digit date calculations are performed.
