However, your users are not required to have an email accounts; you can create email accounts directly on the ProtoFax server. ProtoFax will allow users to include a fax number in the address of their emails. The emails will then be faxed to that number.

Fax from Desktop Applications
ProtoFax has a free printer driver that you can install on client workstations. This printer driver will allow your users to send any Windows™ document over the Internet to a ProtoFax server. The document can be faxed to any number specified. This is just one example of how using the Internet and ProtoFax can provide extraordinary savings in long distance fees.

Web Faxing
ProtoFax will allow you to offer web based faxing to your clients. Especially suited for commerce and ordering solutions, ProtoFax can deliver web based forms and documents to business that traditionally accept fax orders.

Email to Pager
ProtoFax can send email via POP or SMTP to an alphanumeric pager. Multiple pages can be sent in a single call if the message is too long. ProtoFax can either send an entire message or just notify the sender that they have email.

Web Paging
ProtoFax permits you to send alphanumeric pages from web pages. For businesses with clients on the go, this is the perfect solution.

Fax Engine

The key features of the ProtoFax Fax Engine are:

  1. Low System Load
  2. Fast Performance
  3. Designed specifically for US Robotics, Hayes, Practical Peripheral and other popular modems

The ProtoFax Fax Engine's low system load enables it to share the same computer as web servers or file servers or other existing machines. On a Pentium™ 100 with Windows NT and 32megs of RAM, the ProtoFax server can take a message that it received, compile the fax and dial the recipient fax in about 20 seconds! Another key feature of ProtoFax is that it utilizes standard fax modems for sending its faxes. Specifically designed for the most popular modems, you most likely already have all the necessary hardware to run ProtoFax and start.

Alphanumeric Pager Engine

ProtoFax's Alphanumeric Pager Engine will deliver messages obtained from the POP, SMTP, and Scanner Directory Services to alphanumeric pagers via the TAP protocol.
