ProVision:Backup for Delphi is a set of three non-visual VCL components that can be used to add floppy (A: and B: drive) backup capabilities to your application. It includes a sample project and context- sensitive help.

A Clipper version is also available.

• Windows 3.1 or later

• Installation: under 2 minutes

• Press F1 on any one of these three components or on any of their properties to invoke context-sensitive help (after completing merge of provided KWF file).
• Call TBackup's Execute method to display a dialog to back up files on either A: or B: drive.
• Choose to restrict user input to Destination drive only by setting TBackup's UserEnter property (Boolean).
• Set various other TBackup properties, such as:
  • whether to format diskette first
  • range of file dates to be backed up
  • length of time-out when waiting for diskette
  • whether to automatically detect diskette insertion
  • threshold percent before compression begins
  • choice of compression strategy (time, space, none)
  • whether to generate CRC to verify data integrity
  • whether to encrypt backup files
  • encryption password
  • specify include and exclude strings
  • incremental backup and whether to reset archive bit
  • whether to log errors and path for logfile
  • specify the name for the backup set
  • plus several runtime only properties
• Use TRestore's Execute method to display a dialog to restore files from either A: or B: drive.
• Set TRestore's Substitutes property to allow restoration to a different pathname than that from which the files were backed up.
• Set various other TBackup properties, such as:
  • range of file dates to be backed up
  • length of time-out when waiting for diskette
  • whether to automatically detect diskette insertion
  • specify include and exclude strings
• Use TFormat's Execute method to display a dialog to format diskettes in A: or B: drive.
• Modify the included sample Delphi project to explore how each component works.
• ProVision:Backup can be used with either Delphi for Windows or Delphi Client/Server.
