Custom Query Generator |
| Quick Query will generate an additional search screen based on your edit screen.
The end user will be delighted. There is nothing new to learn because it looks essentially like the screen s/he uses to enter data: same color, same general layout, same objects related to the data. With the new screen s/he can ask questions. Most queries are straightforward: enter an item to be found, click on the RUN QUERY button and see the result. The end-user can view the query in plain English, or see the complex query code. Queries can be saved and retrieved with a title up to 46 characters long. You can output queries to labels, reports, DBFs, cursors, or a wide variety of formats, including Lotus.
Notice the Options |
| Real power is available by clicking the object and the OPTIONS button. Each data type has its own options screen. The query can be as simple as movies produced in 1994 or as complex as movies produced in 1994 AND the second letter of the title is in the list 'a, g, w'. The default mode will ignore case, spaces and punctuation. Simple queries are Rushmore optimizable.
