The Query-by-Example Report Writer

Query Maker is a relational Query-by-Example builder and report writer that you can include royalty-free in your Visual FoxPro (6.0, 5.0 and 3.0) and FoxPro 2.x applications.

Instead of seeing actual field names or cryptic codes, your users see plain English descriptions. Fields can be of any data type and can come from multiple files.

Your user can build a record filter, select which fields to output, pick ascending and descending sort orders, as well as fields to group and summarize.

When done, your user can send the matching records to reports, spreadsheets, text files or database tables. Query Maker can also filter an editable browse or find any record in your application's databases.

Query Maker comes to you as Fox source code written in 100% Visual FoxPro, Fox 2.x for Windows, Mac or DOS. You can call it from anywhere in your application with one line of code.

Multi-File Queries

Query Maker can easily make multiple file queries. It can also automatically generate a join condition by looking at your open files and their relationships. If your files aren't open, then you can pass in the join condition as part of the data dictionary. In either case, your user does not need to know about the file relationships or even that the fields they see come from different files.

Can Add Parentheses

Users can use a menu to easily add parenthesis to control how their query is evaluated. Additionally, every time the user makes a change that can affect parenthesis matching, the program will automatically ensure the parenthesis are still in balance.

SQL Setup Dialog

A query setup dialog lets users select fields to be included in the output table format. They can also select fields to group and summarize with statistics like averages, sums, counts, max and min.

You can call Query Maker anywhere with one line of code. A Data Dictionary Wizard makes it easy to set up and maintain multiple data dictionaries.

Uses Data Dictionary

Which fields are shown and how they are presented to your user is determined by a .DBF format Data Dictionary. A wizard helps you set it up in just minutes. This dictionary lets you indicate field formatting, validation logic and expressions for calculated fields. You can even specify pop-ups that let users pick comparison values from lists.

Query List Manager

Query Maker comes with a front-end program called the Query List Manager. It can store an unlimited number of queries, each with a user-supplied title. Its options let users add, edit, copy, rename, delete or run any prior query.
