What is HTML Help?Microsoft HTML Help is the new Help standard for the new Windows 98 and 2000 platforms. HTML Help is a new compiled HTML and ActiveX format from Microsoft which is displayed using the new HTML Help engine included in Windows 98. HTML Help integrates HTML with advanced ActiveX technology, in addition to the rich feature set of online Help. With the release of Windows 98, Microsoft has made a major transition for online Help by using its new HTML Help format instead of the long-standing WinHelp format. Microsoft now uses this new format for all new application releases, including Office 2000, Visual Studio 6.0 and Money 99. Microsoft will continue to ship WinHelp with Windows 98, and future versions of its operating systems, for backward compatibility with applications that use WinHelp. HTML Help is Microsoft's standard for displaying application Help on Windows 98 and Windows 2000. This format integrates HTML and Microsoft's ActiveX technology with the rich feature set of traditional online Help. These systems can also be deployed on Windows 95 and NT 4 systems . A complete, navigable Help system is compressed into a single small file. Because of this, it provides a compelling new alternative for creating online books and Intranet content, in addition to providing traditional application Help. HTML Help and RTF-based WinHelp will live side by side. HTML Help will not replace WinHelp for some time. Rather, it represents a new Help alternative that will live side by side with the current RTF-based WinHelp standard. Microsoft has publicly stated that it will provide the current level of WinHelp support for many years in future operating systems for backward compatibility. Many companies continue to produce WinHelp-based Help systems; hence, we are in a transition period where the market requires both WinHelp and HTML Help systems. NOTE: US SHIPMENT ONLY!
