SIMUL8 OPTIMIZ:

SIMUL8 OPTIMIZ is a SIMUL8 Standard Plug-in which adds optimization features to SIMUL8 Standard. SIMUL8 OPTIMIZ automates the solution finding process and finds the best configuration for your operation.

How it works

SIMUL8 OPTIMIZ searches for the best solution. Give OPTIMIZ information about what to optimize, for example a service level of 95%. Give it a list of the resources and other variables you are prepared to see change and constraints on how much these factors are allowed to change.

OPTIMIZ uses SIMUL8’s "trials" facility to build an understanding of the simulation’s "response surface", that is the effect that the variables, in combination, have on the outcome. It does this very quickly because it does not run every possible combination. It uses Neural Network technology to learn the shape of the response surface from a limited set of simulation runs. It then uses more runs to obtain more accurate information as it approaches potential optimal solutions.

SIMUL8 TimeView:

SIMUL8 TimeView is a SIMUL8 Standard Plug-in which adds Gantt Chart based history reporting to SIMUL8 Standard.

Simulation is great for understanding the dynamics of your operation - BUT how do you.

SIMUL8 TimeView provides a good understanding of the interaction between different parts of your model. It provides an attention grabbing view across the whole of your simulation run which allows you to examine when what has happened. You can zoom in on short time periods and select a subset of the simulation objects to view.

It shows you a time based view of what was happening to, for example, resources when a queue of your customers was forming, or which breakdowns had a critical impact on parts delivery, or which work centers were blocked during different shifts, or which resources are OK on average but causing stock outs during critical peak times.
