SNMP Toolkits |
![]() SNMP ToolkitsSNMP line of products includes:
All the SNMP toolkits are designed to build multithreaded applications in Windows NT, Windows 98 and Windows 95. The toolkits are self contained. They do not rely on any Microsoft or third party tools. The SNMP tools are designed to allow maximum flexibility in designing network management software architecture. The toolkits support building of network management applications, agents, proxies etc. All toolkits are modeled very closely to the SNMP requests for comments (RFCs). This approach significantly reduces the learning curve and makes these tools intuitive and easy to understand and use. ![]() All SNMP toolkits include SNMP graphic utilities that significantly simplify SNMP development. They also can be used as a very powerful investigative tool that allows quickly learn how SNMP works. The utilities allow to trace SNMP messages sent and received. The SNMP messages are analyzed and displayed on the component level. The utilities eliminate need in protocol analyzers (sniffers) that cost from $10,000 to $50,000. The SNMP utilities can be used in network management software testing, performance measurement, analysis and tuning. The possible applications of SNMP class library go far beyond the network management arena. Because the library has a very modular structure, it can be used in network protocol analysis, emulation and simulation software. The library can also be used with proprietary network protocols. In addition the utilities allow to build SNMP requests and traps using graphic editing and test before writing the code in C++ or Visual Basic saving development time. The utilities provide much better facilities for the software testing comparing to the MIB browser because they allow full control over the messages being sent: size, number of variables, order of variables. They allow to build unusual requests that are impossible to generate with MIB browsers: Get-Requests with invalid OID, requests with zero variables etc. that are very valuable to test software ![]() All the SNMP toolkits support SNMPv2c and are backward compatible with the SNMPv1. They are very fast and efficient by design. As an example, one of the features of the toolkits allows to send the same (or different) request(s) to multiple nodes and automatically retransmit requests if a reply was not received. This enables to reduce the network discovery time in more than fifty times comparing to the traditional methods because requests are sent concurrently to multiple the nodes instead of sending requests to one node at a time. All the SNMP toolkits allow to distribute applications royalty free. The development licensing fees include large discounts for additional development licenses.
