![]() Comprehensive Documentation & Analysis for SQL Server!Relax, You're In Control! This product guide is designed to show you how Total SQL Analyzer can reduce your SQL Server development time, and improve the quality and performance of your applications. Is Total SQL Analyzer Right for You?Total SQL Analyzer provides many benefits for developers who are tasked with creating applications that use SQL Server. Whether you develop against SQL Server using Visual Basic, Access, Active Server Pages, or any other compatible environment, Total SQL Analyzer provides you with the complete picture of your servers and databases. Total SQL Analyzer also provides invaluable benefits to database administrators who are tasked with configuring and maintaining SQL Server installations. Total SQL Analyzer is specifically designed to reduce your project development time by providing detailed documentation and analysis of SQL Server servers and databases. How does this directly help you? Read on to learn more. Quickly Understand the Big Picture with Top-Level Summary ReportsIf you develop applications in today's rapid-pace world, your number one concern is meeting your deadlines. Total SQL Analyzer provides specific concrete benefits that help you meet your goals. One of the key problems in developing with SQL Server is that, as your applications grow, it can be difficult to see the forest for the trees. You need to see the big picture in order to make top-level decisions about design and work loads. Total SQL Analyzer provides targeted summary reports to give you exactly this information. Understand Individual Objects with Drill-Down Detail ReportsThe second important problem with SQL Server is that you need detailed information about specific objects. Total SQL Analyzer allows you to drill down to the lowest level to see how tables, views, stored procedures and other objects are actually constructed. This low-level information can dramatically reduce your development time by providing you with a roadmap that helps you write your applications faster. Get Up-to-Speed Quickly on Inherited ProjectsIf you haven't already inherited someone's SQL Server project, chances are that you will soon. Getting up to speed with an application that is already in development or production can be time consuming. Navigating through objects and settings is a manual process that can add weeks or months to your development timeline. Total SQL Analyzer can condense those weeks and months into hours and days. Because Total SQL Analyzer provides you with complete documentation and analysis of server and database design, you can see exactly what is happening on, and get up-to-speed quickly. Deliver More Reliable Applications by Detecting Errors and OmissionsYour mandate as a developer is a tough one: not only are you expected to deliver applications on a tight schedule, you are expected to deliver solutions that perform quickly and have few errors. Unfortunately, the task of digging through SQL Server to detect performance problems, data inconsistencies, and potential errors is a long arduous process. Let Total SQL Analyzer do the work for you. Total SQL Analyzer scans all server and database objects and properties to detect hidden performance problems. Performance problems can occur when properties are set to non-optimal values, or default server settings are not modified to reflect how your applications work. Now you can find these potential issues in minutes instead of days. Even simple SQL Server installations can contain object definitions and property settings that may cause errors in your applications. Total SQL Analyzer checks objects and settings against a database of known potential errors and omissions. Ensure Data Consistency and IntegrityAs tables and fields multiply, the chance for mismatched data types increases. A simple matter of a key field duplicated in a child table with a different data type can lead to data inconsistencies and possible data loss or corruption. Mapping data types between fields with the same names across tables is the only way to find these consistency issues. Total SQL Analyzer does this for you automatically, by providing documentation of field data types across objects and showing inconsistent data types. Other consistency and integrity issues arise when property values differ among related objects. For example, if you have multiple tables that all deal with an OrderID field, you should ensure that the property values are consistent across all instances of the field. Total SQL Analyzer solves this problem for you by providing reports of property values across objects. We Guarantee Total SQL Analyzer Will Save You Time and MoneyAs you can see from the benefits above, we created Total SQL Analyzer to specifically address the issues that affect you most. We absolutely guarantee that Total SQL Analyzer will:
If you find that Total SQL Analyzer doesn't exactly meet your needs, return it within 30 days for a complete refund. Detailed Product FactsWhether you are a developer writing applications for Microsoft SQL Server, or a database administrator responsible for maintaining one or more Microsoft SQL Server installations, the problem is clear: How do you keep track of your Microsoft SQL Server installations? Total SQL Analyzer offers the single best solution to this problem by providing the industry's first comprehensive documentation and analysis solution for Microsoft SQL Server. Total SQL Analyzer provides comprehensive documentation of all objects, properties, and settings available in Microsoft SQL Server, along with analysis of potential issues and performance bottlenecks. Implemented as a Windows-based application, Total SQL Analyzer includes the following top-level functionality:
Most importantly, Total SQL Analyzer provides the complete documentation and analysis solution you need to create, debug, deploy, and support Microsoft SQL Server installations. What Does Total SQL Analyzer Document?Total SQL Analyzer provides complete and comprehensive documentation and analysis for Microsoft SQL Server installations. Object Documentation
Property Documentation
Analysis
Performance Analysis includes items, property settings and designs that may lead to performance problems. See the help file for a complete list of performance issues that Total SQL Analyzer detects. How Does Total SQL Analyzer Work?Total SQL Analyzer is designed to balance ease of use with comprehensive documentation and analysis. We have designed the program using concepts that should be familiar to you if you have used Microsoft SQL Server in general, and Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager in particular. To get an idea of how Total SQL Analyzer works, look at the following steps. Step 1: Define a JobBefore Total SQL Analyzer can provide documentation and analysis, you need to specify the server you want to document, and which objects you want to include. To do this, you create a new Job. Jobs contain information about the server, object selections, and options you specify to control additional information collected in a Job Result. To make Job creation easy, Total SQL Analyzer includes a New Job Wizard that steps you through each part of the process. Step 2: Run the JobYou run the job after you define it. This process generates documentation and analysis into Job Results files that are stored on disk. Total SQL Analyzer provides a Run Job tool that allows you to run Jobs immediately, or schedule them for a later time. Step 3: View the resultsAfter the Job run is complete, you have a Job Results file. You can use the Documentation Explorer built into the program to navigate through all documented objects and see properties, settings, and analysis results. Step 4: Use ReportsOnce you have viewed the results, you will probably want to print or export documentation and analysis data. Total SQL Analyzer provides a Report tool that makes it easy to select, preview, print, and export any of over 70 reports. You can also customize various aspects of the reports. Step 5: Set up a schedule to run Jobs on a regular basisOne of the most valuable features of Total SQL Analyzer is the ability to run any Job multiple times. This is useful when you want to maintain documentation of your Microsoft SQL Server installations over time. Total SQL Analyzer allows you to run any Job any number of times, and have the Job Results stored in different files.
