The Advanced package is designed to further enhance the
current Visual FoxPro programmer's skills. It combines our
3-day advanced class, TNVFP 5202:
Advanced Application Development With Visual FoxPro 6.0
with our 2-day client/server class, TNVFP
5301: Developing Client/Server Applications With
Visual FoxPro 6.0.
After completing this five day course, students will be
proficient and productive with such Visual FoxPro techniques
as:
- Designing and implementing toolbars
- Managing and tracking keyboard and mouse events
- Building advanced forms utilizing the powerful Grid Control
- Implementing updatable Local Views
- Understanding and implementing row and table data buffering
- Committing buffered edits with TABLEUPDATE()
- Undoing buffered edits with TABLEREVERT()
- Building multi-user applications with optimistic and
pessimistic record locking
- Comparing edited fields with OLDVAL() and CURVAL()
- Working with ActiveX controls
- Controlling Microsoft Office components such as Word and
Excel via OLE/ActiveX Automation
- Accessing built-in Windows functions with WIN32 API calls
- Preventing your application from being executed more than

- Understanding the difference between client/server and
file server architectures
- Understanding the role of ODBC in a client/server

- Building ODBC data sources
- Implementing Visual FoxPro connections

- Building forms based on Remote Views
- Combining local and remote data to build optimized
client/server applications
- Prototyping client/server applications on a laptop or
desktop machine
- Migrating Visual FoxPro data to Microsoft SQL Server with
the Upsizing Wizard
- Communicating directly with backend database servers via
SQL Passthrough
- Utilizing the SQLEXEC() function to pass SQL commands to
the server
