TeleBack is a complete software system that will allow you to provide
automated Remote Backups as an additional service to your existing
clients or other businesses in your area.
You can relieve your clients from the mundane task of having to do their own backups by allowing
TeleBack to do it for them after business hours automatically.
Features
- Easy setup. No scripts or batch files to program
- Only one phone line required, but will support more
TBClient Features:
- May be run as a Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) program
- Backup Times and Days are totally flexible. Backup any time of the day, and day of week, any week of the month.
- Backups may be Full or Incremental
- Include and/or Exclude files
- Allows you to perform other tasks before and/or after any backup. Perhaps you'd like to run a defrag utility after the backup is
performed, etc.
- Contains a File Manager that allows you to include, exclude, copy, move, and delete a file or group of files by tagging.
- Backup files are compressed, verified and encrypted with a client-supplied password before being sent to the host.
- Detects all hard drives attached to your client's computer
- Network aware
- Backup files are date and time coded for uniqueness
- A picklist of over 400 modems is provided
- Modem is automatically searched for and tested before each transmission
- Uses Telepathy's Zmodem protocol for fast, reliable file transfers
- An "Exceptions List" is transmitted to your host computer with every backup file so you may see if any errors had occurred during the
compression phase.
- Backups terminated because of errors are automatically restarted and resumed from the point of interruption.
- An alternate phone number can be dialed if the primary number is busy due to other clients.
- Activity log provides feedback for client's backup activity.
- Some clients don't like to leave their computers on at night. Supports a device that plugs into the computer and the phone line that will
turn on your client's computer when your host computer calls it.
- Provides a means to display your company information on the TBClient menu screen.
- Command line switches allow you to alter program operation.
- F1 help available at all screens
- Test Mode performs tests: printer port, printer on-line, comm port and modem commands. It finishes up with a test backup that
informs you of the the time will take to do the backup, size of the file and time it will take to transmit at 5 different baud rates.
- Outputs errors to printer during unattended operation.
- Optionally sync the computer system clock with that of the host computer to ensure that your clients are kept on the correct time
schedule.
- Password protect screens for you and your client. You don't want them to adjust their own schedule without your knowledge.
- Backup file can be located on any drive or directory.
- Optionally have TBClient upload a file that contains any information you need (i.e. screen output from another utility).
- Allows backups to floppy disk.
- Client can restore a file from their last backup locally.
TBHost Features:
- Maintains a copy of the client's backup schedule and setup info
- Optionally change your client's backup schedule automatically
- Two modes of operation: (working at the same time)
- WAIT FOR CALLS: In this mode, TBHost sits waiting patiently for your client's computer to call with a backup file.
- WAIT FOR CALLS and WAKE-UP TBCLIENTS: In this mode, TBHost will call your clients that have their computer(s) turned
off for the night. They must use a device as mentioned above.
- Received backup files are stored in separate directories for each client
- Automatic detection and testing of modem when TBHost is started
- A minimum Characters Per Second (CPS) rate can be defined. This means that if the phone connection starts to degrade below a
certain level, TBHost will terminate the call, at which time, TBClient will immediately redial in an attempt to establish a better
connection.
- Add, edit, delete and print client records
- Print statements to bill your clients for your service
- Define different billing rates: per month, per minute, per megabyte or any combination thereof
- Automatically transmit TBClient updates to your client via modem
- Network aware--comes as a two-user version, meaning that you can run TBHost in a
multi-tasking environment and use two
modems
- TBCommo - An automatic interface to the TeleBack BBS
- Communicate with Tech Support or other TeleBackers in regards to their Remote Backup Service (RBS) practices.
TB-Estimate - Receive a free copy of our estimating software. It provides details like: which files have changed within the last 30, 7 or 1
day(s). Carry this to your client's site to quick estimate of the amount of data that needs to be backed up and how long it will take at
different baud rates.
