VARCHART XNet

XNet

The ActiveX Component for Precedence Network and Workflow Diagrams in your Application

VARCHART XNet lets you graphically display, edit and print your data in the form of network diagrams with annotated nodes and links. It also allows you to display scenarios such as computer networks, work flow or class diagrams.

New!

The below objects can be created, edited and deleted dynamically now:
  • Node appearances (VcNodeAppearance)
  • Node formats (VcNodeFormat)
  • Filters (VcFilter)
Until now, all properties of these objects could be changed only at design time. Now they also can be changed and saved at runtime. The objects created dynamically also can be made persistent.

In-Flow Grouping
If a network has an in-flow grouping, its nodes are displayed in a certain order. This order can be chronological (time-oriented network) or controlled by a certain code (data field). In time-oriented net-works (in-flow grouping by a date field), the nodes are arranged chronologically in x direction (left-to-right orientation) or in y direction (top-to-bottom orientation) and grouped in time intervals. The length of these intervals you can specify yourself. All properties of the in-flow grouping are available as well at design time as at run time.

Port Symbols
For each link appearance you can select a port symbol that shows the port to the predecessor or successor node.

New Event OnShowInPlaceEditor
The new event OnShowInPlaceEditor occurs, if you click onto a marked node field. You can use it to call an editor of your own instead of the pre-installed Edit Control. So you can facilitate your customers to edit dates comfortably with the help of a date picker.

Border Areas
The possibilities of the border areas of the diagram have been extended: Three areas above and six areas beneath the diagram are available now. Each of them may contain texts, graphics or a legend.

Further Enhancements

  • The event OnModifyComplete always occurs, if any data have been edited interactively, e.g. if nodes or links have been created or deleted, if boxes have been edited, etc. With the help of this event you can set a tag that will remind you that the data must be saved before closing the program.
  • The event OnLinkDeleteComplete occurs, if the deletion of a link has been completed.
  • The properties ScrollOffsetX and ScrollOffsetY let you save the current scroll offset in x di-rection of the diagram section currently dis-played and set it again if the same application is started.
  • The possibilities to navigate in the diagrams with the help of the Num area of the keyboard have been improved.
  • With the help of the VcPrinter property RepeatTitleAndLegend you can specify whether the title and the legend will be repeated on each side and whether nodes will be split, if the diagram is split to several pages.·
  • The Error event occurs when an unforeseen error is found in the code of VARCHART XNet. With the help of this event you can take down the errors that occur at the customers comfortably, e.g. in a file.
